Spring is a time when the world seems to come alive again. The grass turns green, and the leaves begin to grow on the trees again. We watch flowers bloom from gardens all around our neighborhoods and life feels merry and bright once again. Most of the world is coming out of the cold of winter and just yearning for the warmer weather and the chance to spend some time outside again. The earth is sleeping through the winter and ready to wake up and welcome us again.
This year feels different. Last year around Easter, we were in the throes of the new virus and everyone was absolutely terrified and worried the world would never be the same again. This year, it feels like we are emerging from our cocoons a bit. Many of us have had COVID vaccinations or are in the process of getting them. This will allow us more freedom to go out as long as we still wear mask and follow precautions. It takes away a lot of the worry for me.
Spring is also a reminder to me that God makes everything new again and gives me immense gratitude for the gift of my salvation. I am so thankful that God took me and turned me into something desired and valued. Spring reminds us that all things can be made new because of Him who gave us eternal life!
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
